Google’s DBMS will be the first third-party PostgreSQL-compatible database natively integrated with VMware Cloud Foundation through VMware Data Services Manager and VMware vSAN.

Google released its PostgreSQL-compatible AlloyDB in May 2022 as part of a strategy to take on PostgreSQL and also the likes of Amazon Aurora and Microsoft Azure’s Database for PostgreSQL.

Google is expanding the availability of AlloyDB for PostgreSQL, a PostgreSQL-compatible, managed database-as-a-service, to 16 new regions.
