The EDV700, which is the current van rolling around delivering Amazon packages, looks nearly identical to that of the upcoming EDV500. A keen eye will spot the differences.

The van is one of three vehicles Amazon has commissioned Rivian to develop, and we should see it hit the road in 2021. Amazon will have electric vans on the road earlier in parts of Europe, however.

When then-CEO Jeff Bezos announced a deal with the EV startup in 2019 to buy 100,000 vans, he said they should be on the road by 2024. Now, Amazon projects to hit 100,000 vans on the road by 2030.

Amazon says that Rivian should start production of the electric delivery van next year and have 10,000 vans the vehicles on the road as early as 2022 and all 100,000 vehicles on the road by 2030.

Amazon just revealed its first electric delivery van, which could start delivering packages in 2021. The e-commerce giant first announced plans to commission a fleet of 100,000 EVs back in February.
