Google has unveiled Google Cloud SQL, a cloud database for Google App Engine developers, a move that comes as Oracle and Salesforce also sharpen their cloud database strategies.

Google has created a relational database for its cloud-hosted App Engine application development and hosting platform, a much-requested addition, the company said on Thursday.
