Once the installation is finished, you can boot up the game and log into either your Microsoft or Mojang account — whichever one is associated with your "Minecraft: Java Edition" purchase.

This Fall, new Minecraft Java players will need to create a Microsoft account to log-in. Meanwhile, existing Mojang accounts will need to migrate in early 2021.

Your Minecraft account could be at risk unless you take action, as the Mojang classic completes migration from Java to the Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
