Programming an NFC tag from your NFC-capable Android device is extremely easy and can lend itself to some very useful scenarios.

In L, there's an option to do it directly from the Wi-Fi settings menu, as shown above. Just long-press on the network, select the "write to NFC tag" option, fill in the password, and write away.

You can now activate a Wi-Fi hotspot on your phone anytime you want; just tap the new widget on your home screen to toggle the function on or off. (Note: This setup may not work on all devices.
