To celebrate Java’s 25th anniversary this year, JetBrains has compiled data from multiple sources to look at what the current state of the language is.

In the making since 2011, the run-up to Kotlin 1.0 focused on interoperating with Java and formally deprecating the parts of Kotlin that didn’t make it into the release candidate.

JetBrains has released new versions of its IntelliJ IDEA, WebStorm, and RubyMine IDEs for Java, JavaScript, and Ruby/Rails development, respectively.

JetBrains is shipping version 9 of its IntelliJ Idea IDE for Java, this time offering both commercial and open source versions.
