PHOENIX -- The Seattle Mariners acquired first baseman Josh Naylor from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday as the franchise tries to beef up its lineup ahead of the July 31 trade deadline.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have made a big move this month, but they could continue to make more moves as the trade deadline draws closer.
The first Diamondbacks trade domino has fallen, as first baseman Josh Naylor is heading to the Seattle Mariners.
The Washington Nationals have several players who could be dealt by the July 31 MLB trade deadline, including first baseman Nathaniel Lowe.
Naylor signed for $10.9 million with Arizona after the trade. He was not eligible for free agency. The Guardians signed Carlos Santana for $12 million to replace Naylor at first base. Cleveland believed it was wiser to trade Naylor in December than wait to do it in the middle of the season.
